Bobby Shmurda’s Affiliate Gets Sentenced to 98 Years in Prison

Bobby Shmurda can't catch a break. His fellow GS9 member, Rashid “Rasha” Derissant, was sentenced to 98 years in prison.

The lengthy sentence comes after Derissant was found guilty for murder, attempted murder and conspiracy on top of other charges.

"The sentence imposed today reflects the terror that the defendant’s crimes instilled in his own community, and wherever else he engaged in wanton violence to settle scores," said New York City prosecutor Bridget Brennan in a press release. "It also underscored the value of the lives lost and tragically damaged."

Shmurda has yet to start his trial since it's been pushed back several times but with this latest news it's likely not going to end well for the 21-year-old either. Especially since another one of his associates who was not in jail was found dead in the water with "cement shoes" on.

After dropping the viral track, "Hot N----" Shmurda was arrested along with some of his affiliates for crimes mentioned in the song. Shmurda has not been able to make bail and his label, Epic Records, hasn't been open to helping the young rapper. But Shmurda has remained hopeful. He's also claimed that the New York prosecutors are out to get him and is suing for wrongful arrest.

“Really, I’m allowed to say everything [so] right now I want everybody to know that I’m being targeted by police, the prosecutor, I’m being targeted by Manhattan judges, everything,” he said in a phone interview with Revolt. “It’s a bunch of injustice going on with my case. Like right now, we’re putting in motions I got several laws pertaining to my case, during my whole incarceration.”

Bobby Shmurda's case is set to start on Sept. 12.
