In a recent interview with XXL, Loud Records' Steve Rifkind said that in honor of the 25th anniversary of Wu-Tang Clan's classic 1993 debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers,) nine new rappers from today will remake the record.

"We're gonna do a few things. We're gonna remake the album with nine MCs from today and each new MC will play a character in the original 36 Chambers," Rifkind explained.

As of now, there's no word on who the nine new rappers are who will be included on the remake. Additionally, Rifkind said that there will be a "major tour" in support of the anniversary as well. Already, it's been announced that Wu-Tang will celebrate the 25-year anniversary at this year's AC3 Festival in Atlanta.

Rifkind spoke about why 36 Chambers still resonates so profoundly in the hip-hop community, two and a half decades after its release.

"To me, it's because where are you gonna get nine emcees that all of them can spit their ass off," he said. "The energy of the record and they weren't just like, "You gotta do this, you gotta do that." They broke barriers and broke ground on what they truly believed in."

Rifkind also talked about the 25th celebration of Big Pun's acclaimed debut, Capital Punishment, saying that he's planning something major with Fat Joe, but the two are still working out the details.
