On Oct. 12, 2012, after nearly nine years behind bars, rapper Turk will be released from jail, AllHipHop.com reports. The Hot Boys member was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2005, after a Memphis police officer was shot during a raid of his apartment.

Convicted on weapons and drug charges, the New Orleans MC was sent off to a federal prison in Forrest City, Ark., where he's evidently kept pretty busy. The rhymer, born Tab Virgil Jr., has been working on an autobiography, The AutoThugoGraphy of Turk, as well as a screenplay about his life. The title: "Reckless."

Last year, reports suggested Turk would sign with Lil Wayne's Young Money label, but he denied plans to ink a deal with is former Hot Boys partner. His rep said he was, however, hoping to reunite the once-successful hip-hop foursome, which released three albums between 1997 and 2003.
