R. Kelly Shoots Down Reports That His Tour Is Canceled: ‘Don’t Believe the Hype’ [VIDEO]
Contrary to earlier reports, R. Kelly’s “After Party Tour” has not been canceled, at least according to the singer. The R&B vet posted a video shooting down reports that he canceled four of his upcoming concert dates.
“I want everybody around the world to know. Ain’t no tours canceled,” he stated in the clip. “Despite what you hear, don’t believe the hype. I have not canceled not one show.”
Previous reports surfaced that Kells canceled four of the 10 stops on his trek including Los Angeles, Dallas, Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Not to mentioned, The Office of the County Attorney for Fulton County, Ga., have sent a letter to Live Nation requesting they not bring R. Kelly’s scheduled Aug. 25 show to the Wolf Creek Amphitheater in College Park, Ga. However, Carrie Davis, chief communications officer for Live Nation, told NPR that the show would go on as scheduled.
R. Kelly performed a concert in Mount Pleasant, Mich., on Friday night (Aug. 4) and he’s scheduled to hit the stage in Detroit on Saturday night (Aug. 5).
Of course, this controversy comes following a report from BuzzFeed that chronicled accusations holding a number of women against their will in an alleged sex cult. According to Jim DeRogatis’ investigative piece, parents of the alleged victims filed reports with the police and FBI, claiming the singer was running an “abusive cult” that was “tearing families apart.”
R. Kelly has denied all allegations and has reportedly obtained attorney Monique Pressley to clear his name.
