Bobby Shmurda’s $2 Million Bail Package Denied
Bad news for Bobby Shmurda. It looks like he won’t be released from jail before the end of the year. The Brooklyn rapper was denied bond for the sixth time by a judge at a hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday (Dec. 3).
According to Billboard, Shmurda’s legal team put together a new $2 million bail package with the rapper’s aunt, Janelle DeFreitas, putting up four real estate properties as collateral. But Judge James Burke rejected the bail application at today’s surety hearing.
This means that Shmurda must remain in jail until his next court date, which is set for Jan. 11. The 21-year-old rapper, who was dressed in a black sweatsuit, entered the courtroom and when he saw his four family members he mouthed, “I love you guys.”
Shmurda has been incarcerated for almost a year after being an arrested on a slew of charges including conspiracy to commit murder and gun charges. Alex Spiro, the attorney for the "Hot Boy" rapper, had no comment on the judge denying his client bail.
This is heartbreaking news for Bobby Shmurda. We now have to wait and see what his fate will be at his trial next year. Keep your head up, Bobby Shmurda.
