XXXTentacion’s domestic abuse trial that was scheduled to begin next week has been delayed, reports Pitchfork. The trial, which was supposed to begin on Oct. 5, stems from the Florida rapper’s charges of aggravated battery of pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and witness-tampering.

A spokesperson for the Miami-Dade state attorney’s office said the delay comes from the defense side. “The prosecutor is ready to go to trial at any point,” the rep told Pitchfork. “I cannot speak for the defense counsel.”

Both sides requested the postponement so the prosecutor could set up questioning of defense witnesses. “However, at this point, the defense attorney has not yet made the defense witnesses available for us to depose," said the spokesperson. "The defense attorney is now indicating he’s not free for the taking of the depositions until late October or early November.”

XXXTentacion, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, has been accused of beating his girlfriend nearly a year. In documents obtain by Pitchfork, the victim, who remains unidentified, detailed some disturbing patterns of abuse by the rapper. In one incident, the rapper became angry after hearing the victim hum another rapper’s lyrics on his song. He allegedly head-butted her and then put her in a bathtub and beat her repeatedly. The victim suffered black eyes, a lump on the back of her head, scratch marks, and bruises, including a large bruise on her ankle where he stomped her.

Depositions were also taken by the woman’s ex-boyfriend, his mother, Sgt. Amel Soto and the Miami Beach police have all corroborated that the victim was extremely battered.

Pitchfork also discovered that X's lawyer also acts as the attorney of the rapper's manager, Solomon Sobande, who was reportedly charged with trafficking counterfeit credit cards last year. His next hearing for that case begins on Sept. 29.

XXXTentacion has laughed off the allegations; reps for the rapper had no comment on the matter.
