As the Atlanta hip-hop community continues to mourn the loss of Shawty Lo, new details have emerged about his unfortunate passing.

As you may know, Shawty Lo, whose real name is Carlos Walker, perished in a car accident last Wednesday (Sept. 21). According to police, Shawty Lo lost control of his 2016 Audi while driving on I-285, a popular highway in Atlanta.

The car left the roadway and hit a tree, causing the car to overturn and catch fire. The rapper was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Two other female passengers were injured and rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to AJC.com, Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office investigator Bertram Ennett revealed that Shawty Lo died from “blunt force injury to the head." He ruled the death as accidental. There's no official word if alcohol was a factor in the car accident.

Since Shawty Lo's death, fans, childhood friends and family members held a candlelight vigil for the late D4L member. Fellow rhymer T.I., who was once his neighbor, went on his Instagram to salute the fallen rapper.

"Can't say enough about how much you meant to the city," he wrote. "Glad we matured beyond our trivial personal differences in time enough to have a laugh about it as neighbors. We salute U G!!!! Rest easy, You'll truly be missed."

Shawty Lo’s funeral will take place at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church on Oct. 1 at noon.
