Pusha T Says He Caught Flack from Teyana Taylor for ‘K.T.S.E.’ Album Rollout [VIDEO]
It safe to say that Kanye West’s five G.O.O.D. Music album rollouts in June were a minor success despite a few hiccups. One major setback occurred with the release of Teyana Taylor’s debut project K.T.S.E. The album arrived late, much to the chagrin of fans, and to Taylor’s frustration, the project was incomplete because many of the samples were not cleared.
In a Beats 1 radio interview with Julie Adenuga, G.O.O.D. Music president Pusha T revealed that he received a harsh phone call from Taylor for the messy album release.
"I caught one of those phone calls," he said. "T is just passionate," he continued before adding that she has "demo-itis," a term for an artist who falls in love with early demos of songs and doesn't want to change anything from it. "T is super passionate, but the good thing about it is she also knows what she wants," he added.
However, King Push said that Taylor's K.T.S.E is his favorite project out of the G.O.O.D. Music album rollout. “Teyana is my favorite," he said (via Highsnobiety). "People don’t know that my love for R&B is like, London, London R&B, the R&B that I used to hear when I’d come over here, and it was like Garage, but they used to have like amazing women singing, and I’d never knew who they were."
"I love R&B music," he continued. "I love the writing that goes into R&B music, more so the writing when the writings like good and hits you right here. It’s dope, more so than the melodies for me."
When asked if there's a G.O.O.D music tour with all 35 songs performed as a collective - from Pusha T, Kanye, Kids See Ghosts, Nas and Teyana Taylor - he seemed optimistic.
"That’s what we’re trying to figure out right now, just how we’re gonna do it," he said. "I’ve already booked a tour, but you know I definitely see us doing this as a collective for sure, and not even by my word, by Ye’s I already see it happening.”
