Kid Cudi appeared in a New York City courtroom on Friday (Sept. 24) to receive sentencing for his misdemeanor drug arrest dating back to June.

The 26-year-old rapper, real name Scott Mescudi, plead guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and received a minor two-day community service sentence. If Cudi can keep a clean track record until his follow-up hearing in March 2011, a spokeswoman for Manhattan's District Attorney says that his case will be completely dismissed.

Cudder was busted for cocaine possession in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood on June 11, just one day before his scheduled performance at the 2010 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony criminal mischief, after smashing a cell phone and breaking the door hinges of an apartment belonging to a 24-year-old woman.

In his October/November cover interview with Complex magazine, Cudi admitted to heavy cocaine use in the past year. "I started doing cocaine to get through interviews, 'cause people wanted to know a lot about my personal life and I wasn't repaired for a '60 Minutes' interview every time," he said. "Doing bumps I was able to get through the day, but then I would smoke weed to calm me down -- it was the only way I could get through the day without people noticing I was doing it. I never thought it was a problem, but I was definitely high-fiving death a couple of times."

Kid Cudi's sophomore album 'Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager,' is currently scheduled for a November 9 release.
