Ice Cube Confirms New Album and ‘Friday’ Movie Are In the Works
Although Ice Cube is busy with his BIG3 basketball league, he’s not resting on his rap laurels. On Friday (June 1), the veteran rapper announced that he’s working on some new projects.
While engaging in a Q&A session with his fans on Twitter, Cube revealed that he will drop a new album in the fall. If the rap icon holds true to his word, this untitled studio project will be his first since his 2010 release I Am the West. It’s unclear if Cube is talking about his long-delayed Everythang’s Corrupt album that he promised to drop back in 2014.
Either way, a new Ice Cube album in the age of Trump is what hip-hop needs right now. Hopefully, it has the same lyrically potency as his landmark album Death Certificate.
Also, during his Q&A session, he told a fan that the script is almost done on the final Friday movie. This project has been highly anticipated by fans. About a month ago, a video surfaced of Ice Cube and Mike Epps playing Craig and Day-Day, respectively, from the set of Last Friday.
Last Friday follows the 1995 classic Friday and he 2000 sequel, Next Friday, which introduced Epps' character. The third installment, Friday After Next, was released in 2002.
Salute to Ice Cube! He's staying busy in Hollywood.
