Ameriie Returns With New 6-Track EP ‘Drive’ and Single ‘Every Time’
Ameriie is back!
The R&B chanteuse has been quiet for a while, but fans have been put on notice. The "1 Thing" singer is making her return. And she's rewarded the patience of her fans with a new six-track EP called Drive.
The opening track "Every Time" is a welcome reunion with Fabolous (after their 2009 collaboration "More Than Love"). The song is a strong start to what looks to be a full on return for Ameriie. Fabolous raps about "having nightmares about you not being on my team" while Ameriie sings about missing her man and realizing that every time she closes her eyes, all she can see is her lost love.
But it's been almost seven years since her last studio album, 2009s In Love & War; what would the singer have in store for fans in 2016? The short answer: great music.
The project features the aforementioned "Every Time" and tracks like "Out Loud," "Trouble With Love" and "Take the Blame." Ameriie has assured fans that a full album is on the way, but in the meantime, Drive is quite the appetizer; with stellar production and songwriting and Ameriie's distinct vocals holding it all down. It's good to have her back.
"Thru the Stars" is an atmospheric and futuristic ode to ambition, with Ameriie proclaiming that she wants to do something great in her life over inventive percussion and airy digital synths. She sounds focused -- and not just because of the song's subject matter. Ameriie ain't playin' witchall.
But don't take our word for it, check it out below.
