The artist formerly known as Young Thug is officially re-emerging as Jeffrey in his new track "John" with Wyclef Jean. The piano-driven track is from Thugga’s upcoming Jeffery mixtape; the title of which is a reference to his government name (Jeffrey Lamar Williams) and possibly a re-imaging of his dynamic musical style.

He talked about the change with Travi$ Scott on his Beats 1 radio show. "I'm Jeffery for one f---ing week. If I don’t sell 100,000 copies," Thug explained.

Although the original release date of the mixtape has come and gone, Thugga took to Instagram to update fans and posted a happy birthday video of Wyclef singing to him over a piano harmony.

Produced by Wheezy and Cassius Jay, “Elton” is an auto-tuned sex song with  Wyclef Jean and Young Thug collaborating over a jazzy groove. Clef croons “Jeffrey” throughout the song, an ode to glorious “wet wet." Thug raps: “It’s wet wet/ Now she squirted on the bed/squirt on me and left a f--ing mess.”

We’re not sure if "Elton" is connected to the rapper's chill session with Sir Elton John but the low, menacing piano riffs may be some sort of nod to the legendary artist.

In March, Jeffrey met Elton John at his Atlanta home. Afterwards, John posted an unexpected series Instagram photos that showed the music legend holding up a black sweatshirt emblazoned with “Young Thug."
