The 16-year-old nephew of R&B singer/producer R. Kelly has been charged with attempted murder for the robbery of a Chicago barbershop. Bryel Kelly has been charged as an adult for the incident that took place last month.

On November 6, Bryel Kelly allegedly went to a local barbershop and attempted to rob the owner at gun point. After complying with his demands the owner pulled out his own weapon and gun fire ensued. Bryel was hit by one bullet piercing his liver and the other collapsing his lung. The boy remains in intensive care unit of Chicago's Advocate Christ Hospital.

Bryel's older brother Brandon allegedly acted as a lookout and has not been charged. The two are the son of Carey Kelly, the estranged brother of R. Kelly.

Aside from attempted murder Bryel also faces attempted armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm. His bond has been set $200,000 and a preliminary hearing is set for December 3. If convicted Bryel faces up to 30 years in prison.

R. Kelly has yet to comment on the shooting.
