It looks like Meek Mill’s year is going to end on a sour note. The 28-year-old rhymer was found guilty of violating his probation stemming from a 2008 drug and gun conviction. Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley handed down the ruling during a hearing in Philadelphia on Thursday (Nov. 17).

"I bent over backward to give him every opportunity to grow his career," Brinkley told defense lawyer Frank DeSimone at hearing (quotes courtesy of the Philadelphia Inquirer).

According to Rap-Up, the hearing got emotional when Meek pleaded to Judge Brinkley that he’s changed his ways. He referenced his girlfriend, Nicki Minaj, who was in the courtroom, and denied that he purposely violated his probation.

“I’m not a gangsta. I’m not a criminal,” he said. “I have my queen, Nicki now. I’m trying to do better and feel like I can be the best rapper alive.”

But Judge Brinkley wasn't impressed and felt that she had given Mill numerous chances to straighten up. "I know the people who support you really want you to get probation," she told Meek. "I don't know that would be appropriate because you and I have been around the block a few times."

Judge Brinkley set a Feb. 5 date for his sentencing, in which Meek could face months in prison. The judge also prohibited the "Tupac Back" rapper from performing anywhere, and limited his travel to the five-county area in Pennsylvania.

After the hearing, Meek and Nicki left the courtroom and went inside a restricted area containing private elevators to exit the building. Attorneys for Mill would not comment on the matter.

Hopefully, the judge will give Meek some leniency and not throw the book at him.

Upon hearing the news of Meek Mill's situation, R&B singer Chris Brown went on Twitter to rant about how the justice system is unfair to black men. He tweeted:

We don't know what all of this has to do with Meek Mill violating his probation, but it's good to see that Breezy has his third eye open.

Radio personality Angie Martinez also offered her support to Meek Mill.
