Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were big winners at the 2013 American Music Awards Sunday night (Nov. 24) in Los Angeles. The Seattle rap duo won a trophy for Favorite Album - Rap/Hip-Hop for their critically acclaimed album, 'The Heist.'

Unfortunately, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis couldn’t attend the ceremony as they were in Miami for a concert. However, they did accept the award via satellite.

"Thank you to the AMAs," said Macklemore. It’s been absolutely incredible year. I feel extremely blessed to be accepting award at the AMAs."

Since Macklemore was in Florida, the rapper acknowledge Treyvon Martin and the hundreds of kids who have died due to racial profiling.

"This is really happening. These are our friends, our neighbors, our peers and our fans," he said. "It’s time that we looked out for our youth and fight against racism and the laws that protect it."

"Thank you so much to our family, our friends and our incredible fans," added Ryan Lewis.
