Lil Wayne Reportedly Reaches Settlement in Longtime Legal Battle with Birdman

Lil Wayne’s long-standing legal battle against Birdman and Cash Money Records maybe finally over — and we stress maybe part.

According to a report by The Blast, Weezy’s attorney Howard King filed a motion with the court on Wednesday (June 6) to dismiss the lawsuit. The alleged complaint in question is Wayne’s $51 million lawsuit he filed in 2014 against Birdman and Cash Money over royalties owed during his time on the label.

Since filing the lawsuit, Wayne has blasted both Birdman and the label during his concerts. However, recently, the two appeared to have patched things up. Back in March, they hugged it out in Miami, and Wayne was spotted at Birdman's Before Anything album release party.

Insiders have reportedly told The Blast that Universal cut a sizable check to settle the lawsuit, which was “well over $10 million.” While the amount hasn't been disclosed, Karen Civil confirmed on Twitter that a settlement has been reached.

As part of the alleged settlement, Lil Wayne is no longer an artist on Cash Money Records, and the oft-delayed Tha Carter V album will now be distributed through Universal Music Group.

Attorneys for Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Cash Money Records have not publically addressed the settlement.

So for right now, it's still up in the air until we get an official confirmation from Wayne and Baby's camp.

Ironically, this Sunday (June 10), Wayne will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his classic album, Tha Carter III. The rap vet is also among the headliners for Hot 97's Summer Jam concert at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Sunday as well.
