Killer Mike, one-half of the powerhouse duo, Run the Jewels  alongside producer/rapper El-P, has announced that he hopes to have the group's third album, Run the Jewels 3, completed by July 7.

“I think we will be done real soon," Mike said in an interview with Hip Hop Wired. "And people know when we say ‘soon,’ we tryna get it out, we want it out this year.”

In March, El-P said that the duo was about halfway finished with the project, so the two have obviously been busy in the studio, getting it done between spot performance dates. With everything that's been going on in America, and a presidential race underway, there's plenty for the politically-charged duo to talk about on their anticipated third release.

“I’m just smoking weed, eating ‘shrooms, watching Big Trouble In Little China everyday, man,” Mike said in the interview. “You know what we doing. You know we’re going zany. We’re going hard. We’re going dark. We’re going hard. I think we got some stuff that will touch your soul… Just know, man, it’s going to be harder, darker, meaner [and] angrier.”

While Run the Jewels can clearly carry an album alone, Mike did say that there's one "big feature" he and El-P are considering, but didn't do any specific name-dropping, saying only that the person in mind was an "artist."

“We got a feature idea in mind and we’ll see how it turns out," he said. "If it’s not that, it’ll probably be no feature."

And in true Run the Jewels fashion, don't expect an album packed with filler. Mike says they like to get in and out, with 10-12 tracks max.

"I’m for shorter albums," Mike says. "I like to stay in the 10 to 12 realm. They want to get to it. Look for our albums to be hard, fast, strong, streamlined, get to it.”

Mike also said you can expect to see Run the Jewels touring this summer.
