Kendrick Lamar's studio debut album, Section.80, released independently through TDE in 2011 before he signed a major label record deal with Aftermath and Interscope, has been certified gold by the RIAA.

It took the album exactly 2,114 days to reach its gold status. This makes Kendrick three for three in album certifications. This doesn't include his latest album Damn., which is currently projected to sell close to 500,000 in its first week.

In 2013, Kendrick's major label debut album, Good Kid, M.A.A.d City was certified platinum after 10 months. He followed up with the Grammy award-winning album, To Pimp A Butterfly, which sold one million copies. And with Damn. doing so well, it will likely only be a matter of weeks until Kendrick receives his next plaque.
