Kendrick Lamar Wants to Play a Villain in Possible ‘Black Panther’ Sequel
The Kendrick Lamar-curated Black Panther soundtrack is the perfect companion piece to one of the biggest films of 2018. Now comes word that K.Dot wants to be involved in the potential sequel.
In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Lamar talked about his work on the soundtrack. He said he's proud of his contribution to the film.
"I think [Black Panther] is something that not only stands within its moment but stands within time," he said. “We’re talking about timeless films and things that are going to curate after this film. When we got to the music, I just wanted to make sure that I could complement that and be a part of [it] in the best way I could.”
Now that he has curated the soundtrack, the Compton rhymer now wants a cameo role in the potential sequel. Lamar was so inspired by Michael B. Jordan's character Erik Killmonger in the movie that he would like to play a villain as well.
"I really enjoy Killmonger's character, just off the simple fact that he was a villain but he came with some real [talk]," he said. "He was a villain but he was loved and misunderstood. So if I could, I'd play a Killmonger for sure.”
There's no official word of a sequel happening. But since Black Panther is poised to be Marvel's highest-grossing comic book film ever, there's a likelihood that a follow-up will soon be in development.
