John Singleton Defends R. Kelly: ‘He Has a Bunch of Girlfriends’
Following a recent report that R. Kelly is holding women against their will in some sort-of sex cult, director John Singleton doesn’t see anything wrong with what the singer is doing.
Speaking with TMZ, Singleton said he doesn’t believe Kelly is holding the women against their will, instead saying the singer has multiple girlfriends.
“He has a bunch of girlfriends. A lot of people have a bunch of girlfriends,” he said.
Singleton added that the alleged women were all of legal age. “The women that he’s with are adult women and they made the decision to be with him. They know what they’re getting into, so I don’t see what the controversy is really about.”
When asked if R. Kelly’s current situation could be compared to Bill Cosby, Singleton disagreed, saying, “No, not at all. That’s a whole different situation.”
While Kelly and his team have denied the allegations, another woman recently came forward and claimed she was able to avoid the singer. According to TMZ, the woman had met with Kelly in the past and was asked to model for him. After meeting with him a few more times, Kelly allegedly sent the woman a one-way ticket to his Los Angeles mansion. The woman ended up calling things off with Kelly after feeling uncomfortable about the gesture.
