Janelle Monae's androgynous style has opened up her sexuality as a topic of interest but the eccentric singer doesn't plan on revealing her secrets any time soon. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the Kansas City native dished about her choice of attire but skillfully skirted around the topic of sexuality.

Monae explained that she took inspiration for her standard black-and-white outfit from her working-class parents. "I call it my 'uniform," she said. "My mother was a janitor and my father collected trash, so I wear a uniform too."

But as far as questions about her sexuality, the 24-year-old singer wasn't keen on giving any concrete answers. "The lesbian community has tried to claim me," Monae answered. "But I only date androids. Nothing like an android -- they don't cheat on you."

Monae's connection with the android world has far surpassed the conceptual phase of her latest album, 'The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III).' In a June interview with the Telegraph UK, she explained that androids are guaranteed to be a part of our future. "I believe we will live in a world where androids will live among us and develop human characteristics and emotions," she said. "Technology is advancing so fast that in two years, computers will have mapped out the human brain to the extent that you won't be able to recognize the different between your mother calling to say hello and an android."

Janelle Monae released 'The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III) on May 18.
