Janelle Monae Announces Tour Dates, Drops Video for ‘I Like That’
Janelle Monáe has announced dates for her Dirty Computer tour. She also dropped off gorgeous new visuals for her latest release "I Like That."
The 27-city tour kicks off June 11 in Seattle and wraps on August 4 in Atlanta, hitting Vancouver, Portland, Los Angeles, Denver, Minneapolis, and New York in the process.
Dirty Computer drops on Friday, and will be accompanied by an "emotion picture." Monáe will premiere the 44-minute visual on both the big screen and small screen. In conjunction with YouTube, the Grammy-nominated singer will screen The Dirty Computer: Emotion Picture at a select theater in New York today. A Q&A session with Monáe will follow.
Additionally, another theatrical premiere will take place in Los Angeles April 27, along with a Q&A session. The Dirty Computer: Emotion Picture will also premiere on MTV and BET (and related channels, MTV2 and BET Jams) next Thursday.
The film is described as a "visually stunning story of a young woman named Jane 57821 (Janelle Monáe), who is living in a totalitarian near-future society where citizens are referred to as 'computers.'" Actress Tessa Thompson co-stars in the visual, which "explores humanity and what truly happens to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness when mind and machines merge, and when the government chooses fear over freedom."
