Once known as the world’s most dangerous group, N.W.A felt it was important to rep where they were from on their classic 1988 debut album, Straight Outta Compton. To celebrate the release of the biopic of the same name, Beats by Dre has called on New York’s finest artists to explain the importance of representing their roots.

Fabolous is a Brooklyn, N.Y., native who feels that “Brooklyn has the coolest people.” R&B songbird Justine Skye is also from BK and the borough represents “the real,” according to her. Yonkers natives The LOX know that “you have to be hard, discipline, determined and willing to make it” where they're from.

Finally, Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex reminds the world that his hometown of the Bronx represents the “elements of hip-hop -- DJing, breakdancing, MCing and graffiti.”
