Ella Ann of rap group The Bangz was shot in the neck in Los Angeles and remains in stable condition. While the details are still unclear, according to Ella's Twitter page, and a YouTube video created by her partner Sabi, the 20-year-old rapper, born Korttney Elliot, was shot sometime after her last tweet at 8:30 PM on Sept. 14.

"She was traveling with a male associate through an unfamiliar neighborhood," Sabi's video explains, "when shots were fired into their vehicle, striking Elliot twice in the neck. She is now in stable condition after undergoing three surgeries at a local Los Angeles area hospital."

While Ella Ann recuperates, Sabi has begun tweeting to inform her friends and fans of her condition. Keeping up a steady stream of updates, Sabi says that Ella Ann was able to open one eye, and had movement in her hands and fingers before doctors induced a comatose state to relieve swelling on her brain. She has not yet regained consciousness.

The Bangz are part of the Jerk Movement, a hip-hop style made popular by fellow Cali group The New Boyz. Their single 'We Love Boys with Tattoos (We Jerkin')' is currently on radio rotation on the west coast, and their untitled album was to debut on VNR/Asylum/Warner Brothers Records in the coming year.

Sadly, one of Ella's last tweets before the shooting reads, "@musicisnmyheart cant be afraid ma, life is to short to be afraid of what other people are gonna say, u only have one life, so live it for u."
