A few days ago, Childish Gambino posted a troubling, handwritten seven-page letter on his Instagram that had everyone worried about his state of mind. Not to worry, he's fine. Apparently, he just had a bad day and wanted to express himself.

In an interview with People, the rapper, whose real name is Donald Glover, shot down rumors that his notes were a cry for help. He describes his picture-filled missives as simply venting.

"That night, we had a show, and then afterwards, I had this moment of feeling like, 'What's the point? Why am I even here?' he told the website. "I just wanted to write down my feelings. I definitely was just expressing myself."

The 30-year-old rhymer admitted that was feeling down but wouldn't elaborate any further on what was causing his mood swing.

"If I'm depressed, everybody's depressed," he says. "I don't think those feelings are that different from what everybody's feeling. Most people just don't tell everybody."

Gambino seems to suggest that exhaustion may have been the root cause of his unhappiness as of late.

"I was just tired of telling people I was tired. It felt like every day someone would ask, 'What's wrong. Are you OK?'" he states. "And I would say, 'I'm tired, I'm tired.' I didn't want to do that anymore. I guess sometimes not telling the truth is just as bad as telling a lie."

In the end, Childish Gambino was humbled by the heartfelt responses to the letters from both fans and artists who sent words of encouragement.

"I'm glad people saw it. I feel like I got some stuff out there," he said. "I got it off my chest. It felt like I had been holding on to something."
