Capital Steez, a member of up-and-coming Brooklyn rap group Pro Era, committed suicide on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24).

The 19-year-old MC, born Jamal Dewar, announced his intentions a minute before midnight on Sunday (Dec. 23,) tweeting only "The End."

Fellow Pro Era MC Joey Bada$$ confirmed the news regarding Dewar's death early on Sunday morning.

"This unfortunate xmas eve.. Lost a best friend, a brother, a pro, a partner. Letting go is never easy.. May ur soul rest in peace Jamal," he tweeted. "RIP CAPITAL STEEZ!!! 7.7.93 - 12.24.12."

Following the news, Joey and the remaining members of his Pro Era crew remixed recent mixtape cut "Like Water" in dedication to Dewar, renaming it "Like Water (R.I.P. Capital STEEZ)."

Though the rapper's suicide has been confirmed, the cause of death remains unknown.

Capital STEEZ released his debut mixtape AmeriKKKan Korruption back in April.
