Beyonce Teams Up With Houston Organizations to Fundraise for Hurricane Harvey Victims
A couple days after announcing she was going to help her hometown of Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, Beyoncé went on her social media accounts on Thursday (Aug. 31) to urge fans to support two local charity organizations.
The R&B superstar’s BeyGOOD Foundation has partnered with the Houston-based Bread for Life and Greater Houston Community Foundation who have been on the frontlines aiding displaced families following the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. On her Facebook post, she encouraged fans to donate whatever they can. "Your donations will help with the immediate needs and rebuilding efforts of my city," she wrote.
If you go to the BeyGood website, you can financially donate directly to both charities. The monies will go to buy baby formula, cots, medical supplies, wheelchairs and more, which are desperately needed right now.
Launched in 2013, BeyGOOD partners with global charities to help get people employed and also provides housing, clothing, counseling, food and medical assistance.
Beyonce is among several Houston-based artists who have stepped up during the storm to help the city and state of Texas. Houston legend Trae tha Truth has been on boats rescuing people who were trapped in their flooded homes. Meanwhile, fellow H-Towner Bun B is organizing a telethon for Hurricane Harvey victims.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of Houston, Texas.
