50 Cent Seeks to Trademark Songs for Television
50 Cent continues to make business moves in the world of TV and film.
TMZ reports that the rapper has moved to own television trademarks for his 2003 debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin' and his 2005 song, "Hustler's Ambition." He's also reportedly trying to lock down apparel for Hustler's Ambition, which would include t-shirts, hoodies, and raincoats.
The news comes on the heels that 50 unknowingly made millions off his 2014 album, Animal Ambition, because he accepted bitcoin for the project. Back then, bitcoin was valued at about $662/bitcoin and fans could reportedly get a copy of the album for just a fraction of a whole bitcoin.
According to TMZ's sources, Animal Ambition made about 700 bitcoin in sales, or over $400,000. 50 reportedly let it sit in his account and now, four years later it's worth anywhere between $7 million and $8.5 million, as bitcoin's value is currently fluctuating between $10k and $12k per coin.
"Not Bad for a kid from South Side, I’m so proud of me," 50 Cent wrote, captioning a screenshot of the article about his estimated bitcoin worth on Instagram.
Additionally, 50 Cent has extended his deal with Starz. The new extension will keep the rap mogul at the network until 2019.
