50 Cent Pulls Inspiration From New Album, Directs Accompanying Movie

50 Cent is always coming up with innovative ways to promote himself. The rapper/actor will be making his directorial debut with the release of the film 'Before I Self Destruct,' which will accompany his latest album of the same name. It's not Purple Rain," 50 said in a recent interview. "But it was inspired by the actual music."

Unlike his 2005 film debut 'Get Rich or Die Trying,' this film will not be autobiographical. Instead it will focus on the multi-facets of urban life. "When [movies] portray certain lifestyles they don't show cause and effect," he said. "There are always options. People just usually start to see them while being incarcerated -- for not seeing them in the first place."

The film's soundtrack will not feature songs from the album 'Before I Self Destruct' instead 50 scored the record separately with the use of unsigned artists. "Then Interscope would automatically have the rights to it, when they had absolutely no ownership of the actual material," he said.

Both the film and movie will be released December 9.
