Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna enlisted DJ Premier for a surprising collaboration with the track, "Places to Go."

While the two may seem like strange bedfellows, the songs works incredibly well by drawing the magic from '90s-era hip-hop with Yuna's eclectic vocals.

In an interview with The Fader, Yuna explained her inspiration behind the track and how it feels to work with the legendary producer.

“'Places to Go' is a song about when you’re growing into the person that you’re meant to be. Sometimes you go through all these things that will change you as a person and you find it hard to deal with all of these challenges,” she said. “I was truly honored to work with legendary DJ and producer DJ Premier. I still can’t believe I have a track with Premier, it really is one of the best songs I’ve written in a long time.”

We feel the same way too.

Premo is having the best week ever. The former Gang Starr member also produced "Buckshot" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. In the press release on his song with Yuna, DJ Premier shared some background information on how the track, which also features KRS-One, came about.

“Macklemore's manager reached out to my manager (Ian) and told him that they wanted me to hook up a scratch sequence to tie in the lyrics that Ben wrote," said DJ Premier in a press release. "Ryan did the track and we got on the phone to discuss the theme about their younger days running the streets and tagging graffiti.  I draw as well so it made total sense!"

"After I sent my parts back, they asked if I knew how to get in touch with Kris (KRS-One)," he continued. "I reached out to Kris's wife and since he is a dope graffiti artist as well, he was the perfect choice and he laced the verse overnight. The whole combination made it a complete jam for the history books.”

Yuna is slated to drop her third album, Chapters, later this year on May 20 via Verve Records, while Macklemore's and Ryan Lewis' second album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, will hit stores on Friday (Feb. 26.)
