In January, Young Thug dropped the video for his track “Wyclef Jean.” The video became a success on YouTube, racking up over 28 million views and has now gone on to win an MTV Video Music Award for Best Editing, something Young Thug didn’t find out until the day after the award show.

“So no one was going to tell me that I won an award??” the rapper tweeted on Monday.

Thugger being oblivious to the win is fitting for the music video which didn’t even feature the rapper show up to set. The visuals for “Wyclef Jean” are actually just made up of ideas that Young Thug wanted to shoot but the artist never showed up to record them.

Instead, director Ryan Staake created a video explaining how the whole process fell apart and what he had to do to try to salvage it. According to the director, he and his crew waited around all day for the rapper who never showed up.

Nevertheless, Thugger expressed his thanks on Instagram in a post that you can check out below.
