You can't talk about the history of west coast Hip Hop without dropping the name "Tupac," east coast hip-hop without Rakim and you can't speak about the lore of Midwest pimpin' without mentioning Iceberg Slim.

The notorious Chicago pimp has been name-checked by many of your favorite hip-hop artists for decades. Now, Slim is dropping a film highlighting his legendary life.Contrary to what many might assume a pimp's biography would consist of, "Portrait Of A Pimp" is actually a story of how Iceberg Slim went from mack to author, publishing seven books and becoming a cultural icon in the process. The collection of books is considered the birth of street literature and explored the world of the ghetto in gritty yet poetic detail.

The Ice-T produced film features commentary from Snoop Dogg, Henry Rollins, Chris Rock and Archbishop Don "Magic" Juan. Directed by Jorge Hinojosa, "Iceberg Slim: Portrait Of A Pimp" is scheduled to hit theaters on July 19. Watch the trailer for the film below:
