Vince Staples delivered some great news to his fans. The Long Beach, Calif. rapper announced that he will release a new album this summer.
The Def Jam artist appeared on Zane Lowe's radio show on Beats 1 where he revealed the title of his next project and release date. Staples is calling the album Big Fish Theory and he will drop it on June 23. It also appears that Kendrick Lamar, the Gorillaz, A$AP Rocky, Bon Iver and more will make cameos on the project.
In an April interview with Complex, Staples revealed the meaning behind the album's title. "It encompasses things: Being larger than life in a smaller world, so to say. How rappers are perceived and perceive themselves," he said.
Staples also explained his recording process for the Big Fish Theory. "I don't think this album was a learning process itself as far as the creation of it," he said. "I just think it was a culmination of things I had been learning over the past few years, and coming to an understanding. Often times, music becomes a coping mechanism for people."
Vince Staples' Big Fish Theory is the follow up to his 2016 EP Prima Donna. Watch his new video for "Big Fish" below.
