Just because Top Dawg Entertainment's co-president Punch is busy helping artist like Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock touch the globe with their music, that doesn't mean he isn't releasing his own.

On Sunday (Dec. 4), the West Coast native dropped his new single "Gold" and displayed his true talent for crafting thought-provoking verses.

"Compulsive dreamer, pessimistic over thinker / Never indulging reefer, seldom Hennessy drinker / Wear my heart on my sleeve with a poker player's demeanor / Balance emotion, you rarely know what I'm thinking," he spits.

A lot of folks have already heard the skilled lyricist on K Dot's song "Untitled 05 / 09.21.2014," off the Untitled, Unmastered album and before that on his own singles such as "40 Years" and "Gone."

In an interview with Billboard from earlier this year, Punch said he plans to release his own album at some point, and he's taking his own music a lot more seriously these days.

"I think I'mma do a project for sure," he said. "I think I'm going to finally finish it, because I write a lot, and I record every so often. I think I'm just gonna go ahead and knock it out at this point."

"I'm starting to get that itch more and more," added the talented multi-tasker. "Before it was like 'Okay, I write a little bit, I can rap. Let me put it down for fun. It's cool.' At this point, it's starting to turn into a burning. I really want to do it now."
