G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo will make his first major silver screen appearance in the upcoming blockbuster film 'S.W.A.T: Fight Fire.'

Yayo, who's real name is Marvin Bernard, will reportedly play a trouble-making character named Carlos, who gives the S.W.A.T. team a run for their money when he takes several hostages in the film.

The new movie is a follow-up to the 2003 release 'S.W.A.T,' which was based on the original 1970s television series. Executive Producer Scott Putnam says that the film's latest installment will still hold true to the well-known TV show. "It's exciting to bring an iconic TV show to life. The film is going to be gritty, edgy, and suspenseful," Putnam said. "I used to watch the TV series when I was a kid, and I couldn't be more excited to help carry on the name."

The Benny Boom-directed flick commenced filming in Detroit in mid-April and Yayo has already put in some time on the set. The New York City native dropped a line on his Twitter account on Thursday, May 6, letting fans know that he was flexing his acting chops. "On Set SWAT 2 baby!!! Shout to Benny Boom and Lucky," he wrote.

'S.W.A.T: Fight Fire,' is slated for a 2011 release.
