June is kicking off with some musical heat and we're here to share the best of what's out there when it comes to hip-hop and R&B. Last week, Lil Jon took the top slot in our edition of Songs of the Week with his latest release, “Cutie Pie,” which is sure to pop up on your radio dial and party playlist throughout the summer. Iamsu! and Fat Trel rounded out the list, which marked yet another impressive selection of songs.

While we won't go as far as to say this week's lineup will trump the previous one, it is filled with plenty of fire power. The competition for this week is thick with stellar releases from the likes of Machine Gun Kelly ("Til I Die Part II"), Lil Wayne ("Glory") and others just missing the cut.

Aside from those heaters, there are a few gems hidden in the rough that is the online terrain. Spanning from tried and true vets from the East Coast to fresh-faced crooners, our three selections for this week are a unique, albeit potent mix of musical talent. Let’s get to the matter at hand, which is running down the hottest tunes of the past seven days featuring the likes of Method Man, Elle Varner, Waka Flocka Flame and more.

    "The Meth Lab"

Method Man Featuring Hanz On & Streetlife

Aside from his appearances on the past two Wu-Tang Clan LPs, rap legend Method Man has been out of the loop musically for much of the last decade, instead focusing on his endeavors in Tinseltown. But Meth has announced that he has a new solo album, The Meth Lab, on the way. Method Man decided to serve up the titletrack from the LP to let us know it's still not a game whenever he hops on the mic, channeling his character Cheese from The Wire and hitting us with a fix of audio dope. Full of bruising bars from top to bottom, Meth is in rare form on this ditty and gives notice that The Meth Lab will not be a mailed-in effort by any measure.

    "Birthday"

    Elle Varner Featuring 50 Cent

Elle Varner made a big splash in 2012, with her debut album, Perfectly Imperfect, which spawned the hits "Only Wanna Give It to You" and "Refill." Nearly three years removed from her introduction to the R&B world, Elle is prepared to give us another dose of her genius with her forthcoming album, 4 Letter Word, which is set to arrive this summer. Our first taste of the LP comes via its lead single, "Birthday" featuring 50 Cent. Produced by Nineteen85, the track is a naughty banger that is sure to put Elle back in rotation and make fans salivate for even more music from the talented beauty.

    "Game On"

    Waka Flocka Featuring Good Charlotte

Waka Flocka is notorious for going hard in the paint, so when he was approached to contribute a track to a movie called Pixels he delivered with vigor. An action comedy film involving video games and the sort, Pixels won't hit theaters until July 24, but we're blessed with this cut off the soundtrack, which unexpectedly pairs Waka with rock band Good Charlotte for the lively selection "Game On." Turning up all over the heavy guitar riffs, digital drums and Pac Man sound effects, the song making for an entertaining tune. Waka will earn a few fans from the rock sector with this one.
