If you need some music to get out of your post-Trump doldrums look no further than Rapsody’s new mixtape, Crown. Her collection is an empowering tour de force with songs that aim to boost spirits and inspire young men and women to be kings and queens in their daily lives.

The 10-track mixtape boasts several powerful songs including the title track where she encourages her listeners to hold on to their crown and don’t let anyone steal their shine. On “Tina Turner,” the North Carolina native spits ideologies of self-reliance, brotherhood and sisterhood over a sample of Public Enemy’s "Rebel Without a Pause."

On “2 AM,” featuring Ab-Soul, Rapsody reflects on her daily struggles and vows to never be a subject of an Unsung episode. On “OooWee,” featuring the soulful vocals of Anderson .Paak, Rapsody spits her testimony of growing up in N.C. and avoiding the pitfalls of the streets.

Rapsody ends Crown with the uplifting “Fire,” where she encourages black folks to fight for their rights in the wake of a questionable four-year presidency with Donald Trump.

"We can’t forget about Malcolm and Betty / We gotta stay ready or we’ll be (Losing our minds) / Slim pockets with no homes to live and no jobs to get we’ll be (Losing our minds) / War and racism, they hate us still / But we’ll fight until, until we’re all (Losing our minds),” she raps.

Rapsody also released an equally powerful "Crown" video featuring kids, teens and adults being kings and queens in their daily lives.

If the revolution is going to come, Rapsody will certainly lead the charge. Watch her uplifting visual below.
