Pharrell Becomes a 16-Bit Player in ‘Yellow Light’ Video [WATCH]
A day after releasing “Yellow Light,” Pharrell dropped a fun video for the song, which is from the Despicable Me 3 soundtrack.
Not quite as infectious and ubiquitous as his 2014 “Happy” visual for Despicable Me 2, but the clip is still fun and features Skateboard P and his crew of Minions. In the summer-y video, Pharrell marches through the streets with the Minions behind him as they chase after bananas.
Along the way, Pharrell gets thrusted into the video game world and becomes a 16-bit player. He is then captured by the evil Balthazar Bratt and is challenged to a dance-off. Watching Pharrell do the running man in pink Timberland boots is a quite a sight to see.
As for the Despicable Me 3 movie, Pharrell is scoring the flick as well as executive producing the soundtrack, which hits stores on June 23. The collection reportedly will feature a new song from Eminem as well as classic ‘80s songs including Michael Jackson’s “Bad,” Madonna’s “Into the Groove” and a-ha’s “Take on Me.”
Despicable Me 3, which feature the voices of Steve Carell, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove and Kristen Wiig, will open in theaters on June 30.
