Missy Elliott Hit With $75,000 Lawsuit for Concert No-Show
Missy Elliott is having a misdemeanor of her own. The Grammy Award-winning rapper was hit with a $75,000 lawsuit this week for allegedly missing a Brazilian TV appearance and two concerts.
According to Page Six, Maestro Global Media Group's concert promoter Jean Faustian filed a suit through the Manhattan Supreme Court for the scheduled shows, which were supposed to happen three years ago. According to his claim, the Supa Dupa Fly creator was paid $75,000 as a deposit to perform in Rio and Porto Alegre in November 2012.
In addition, the agreement stated that she had to promote the show on a scheduled appearance for Brazil's Rede Globo. But since the 44-year-old rapper never showed up, they canceled the concerts. However, Missy kept the deposit, according to the media group.
It's been 10 years since Missy released an album, but she has been on a steady comeback since her halftime performance at Super Bowl XLIX in February. The "Work It" rapper also delivered some rhymes on Janet Jackson's Unbreakable LP in the heater, "BURNITUP!"
Attorneys for Missy Elliott had no comment on the matter regarding the lawsuit.
In unrelated news, Missy did retweet some praise from Tyler, The Creator on Monday (Oct. 5). "SHE ALWAYS HAD THE SWAG I LOVE YOU," wrote the Odd Future leader with a link to Missy's song "Click Clack."
