Atlantic Records is winning in 2017 with a roster of artists that includes stars like Cardi B, Lil Uzi Vert and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie. But Metro Boomin went on Twitter today (Oct. 18) to warn artists and producers to be cautious when signing with the label because “they will steal your soul.”

The tweet was in response to another user announcing that an A&R meeting for the label was happening next month and he was making a list of “new Atlanta producers who are making fire.”

In a subsequent series of tweets, the hitmaker clarified that he wasn’t taking shots at Atlantic but at APG (Artist Partners Group and Artist Publishing Group). "What I said about Atlantic was directed at Mike Caren and the APG division who deals directly with producers and songwriters...stay away from APG. They play by their own rules."

"I just got so much love for all the dope upcoming musicians and don't want to see you fall victim so I'm letting you know," he continued. "This is not about slander. This is about not letting art and more importantly, lives go to waste."

"It is just so demeaning to take advantage of hungry artists/producers/writers who put their whole life into their music just 4 u to rob them," he added. "I'm not against major labels at all let that be clear. APG is just evil."

It's no secret that producers often get shafted in the music business. In a lot of cases they don't get paid or get recognized for their hard work. Metro is simply offering some advice to up-and-coming producers and artists.

Reps for Atlantic Records haven't responded to Metro's tweets/claims. You can read the producer's Twitter rant below.
