Kid Cudi Says He’s on a ‘New Frequency’ With Upcoming Pharrell Collaboration
Cudi tweeted yesterday (June 29) that he "got some magic" from Pharrell and that his upcoming projects will have "new energy" and "new frequency." The Chicago rapper and Pharrell are both known for pushing the edge musically, so their link-up seems fitting, particularly since Cudi recently announced plans to "upgrade" the minds of his listeners with not one, but two albums dropping this year.
He's reportedly been in the studio nonstop, with rumors that he's recently collabed with everyone from Andre 3000 to Travi$ Scott and Kanye West, though he did tweet a few weeks ago that Travi$ is the only "official" feature on his upcoming albums thus far.
“He’s officially my only feature thus far on the album," he tweeted a few weeks ago. "Pretty tasty huh? Yeah. Were jammin and sippin. Join us.”
To that end, he announced yesterday that Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' will drop sooner rather than later. He'd teased earlier that the project was finished and he was simply fine tuning it.
"Gonna get a release date for yall in a few weeks," he said yesterday on Twitter. "This album and new jams are coming and very very soon."
No doubt, 2016 will be busy for Cudi. He's also set to star alongside Zoe Kravitz in a thriller scored by Questlove and has plans for two tours this year.
