Kevin Gates Faces New Charges in Illinois, Unable to Leave Florida Jail as Scheduled
Not so fast, Mr. Gates.
Kevin Gates was supposed to be released from a Polk County, Fla. jail today (March 24) after being sentenced to 180 days for kicking a girl at a concert last year. Something went drastically wrong, however.
It turns out that the Louisiana rapper won't be getting out today, due to a warrant for a felony weapons charge out of Illinois. In fact, he'll be extradited from the Polk County jail to Cooke County to face charges.
Based on a report from the Tampa Bay Times, Gates had plenty of run-ins with Cooke County law enforcement, which stem from several gun charges and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Those charges are from 2013, and the rapper will face the judge on Sept. 22 of this year.
Clearly, the Islah creator has seen better days.
