With his eye on music stardom, R&B singer Jarvis wants the world to know that when it comes to entertainment, he's unlike his musical competitors. The Oklahoma native tapped rapper Waka Flocka Flame for his latest single 'Coppin' the Best,' and hopes to introduce fans to a different style of R&B.

"It's kind of one of those records letting you know I'm here, and that I'm a force to be reckoned with," Jarvis tells the BoomBox. "I feel like at this point in the game I wanna bring back real music, talent. I wanna bring back people really singing, getting on a record and being OK to be vulnerable. Auto-Tune was the thing for a minute, so I really wanna step back into that [real singing] lane."

As for adding Waka to the single, Jarvis explains that the Brick Squad member was the perfect fit for the track.

"I actually already had the record and we [were] getting a lot of great feedback from it," the crooner discloses. "We wanted to add that street element to it, and really wanted somebody that could talk the talk, give it a little more grunge. The best person to add was Waka and we had a real good relationship with him, and his team here in the A. We made a call, he heard the record, he loved the record and he came in and he did his thing on it."

Likening himself to a "young Bobby Brown," Jarivs has been busy at work on his debut album -- currently untitled -- which he says he will be fine-tuning until it's released. The 21-year-old was first introduced by way of his 2004 So So Def single 'Radio.' With that record deal now a thing of the past, Jarvis has since linked with Miami's DJ Khaled, signing to his We the Best record label.
