J. Cole, Rock the Bells 2012: Rhymer Names ‘Greatest Rapper Alive’ During Set

J. Cole graced the Rock The Bells stage Sunday (Sept. 2) at PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey with a red jacket reminiscent of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" music video, all while moving through his collection of tracks.

The Roc Nation rapper performed songs off his mixtapes and debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story including "Who Dat," "Nobody's Perfect," "Lights Please," "In the Morning" and "Daddy's Little Girl."

His band and DJ were just as entertaining. His keyboardist did his own rendition of Scarface's "My Block" while the crowd clapped their hands in unison. DJ Dummy then showcased his scratching abilities on the turntables with his hands behind his back.

"These DJs can't do that anymore," J. Cole bragged.

After that, Cole rapped "Blow Up" and his hit "Work Out."

"We gotta make room for the greatest rapper alive," he said in reference to Nas, whose set was right after his.

Before leaving the stage he performed "I Need That," in which his DJ mixed in Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin'," a clever move that received a couple "aye's" from the audience as they were already bouncing to the track.
