J. Cole Plays His ‘Last Show for a Very Long Time’ At 2016 Meadows Music Festival [VIDEO]

It’s looks like J. Cole is going to take a much-needed break from tour. On Saturday (Oct. 1), at the inaugural 2016 Meadows Music & Arts Festival in New York, J. Cole informed his fans that this is going to be his “last show for a very long time.”

The Roc Nation rapper was on the bill in replacement of The Weeknd who canceled a day before the event (although he did perform on Saturday Night Live).

J. Cole acknowledged to the crowd that the night’s headliner wasn’t going to show up, much to their chagrin. However, he promised them an entertaining show - and he delivered.

According to the Associated Press, he took fans on a musical journey of empowerment and self-confidence. At times, he provided social commentary and his thoughts behind the songs he was performing. He mostly performed songs from his Grammy-nominated album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. At one point, during his rendition of “Role Modelz” he offered his thoughts on Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump, which you can watch in the video down below.

Then he dropped a bombshell on his audience.

“Before I get out of here, listen. This is my last show for a very long time,” he told the shocked crowd before closing out his set. In the video above, you can hear one woman screamed, "No!" while another person yelled, "New album."

While it's sad to hear that J. Cole is taking a break from the stage, it doesn't mean that he will stop recording music altogether. The 31-year-old rapper has been touring non-stop since the release of 2014 Forest Hills Drive and he taking a pause for the cause. We can dig it.
