E-40 has been on top of his game in 2016. As he prepares to release his double album, The D-Boy Diary Books 1 & 2, he just received good news that his 2012 single, “Function,” featuring YG, Problem and IamSU!, just went gold.

The achievement marks the second gold plaque for the veteran Bay Area rhymer after “Choices” was certified gold status in May.

“The energy rejuvenated memories of 2006. I put myself, YG, Problem and IAMSU! all on one song with two of us representing Northern California and two of us representing Southern California," said E-40 via a press release (via HipHopDX). "We went gold independently and sold over 500,000 singles, now that is an accomplishment!”

True indeed.

The double album, which will be the 48-year-old rhymer's 26th and 27th studio efforts, is slated to hit stores on Nov. 18. The collection boasts 42 songs and guest appearances from Gucci Mane, Jay Rock, Lil B, G-Eazy, Ezale, Mistah F.A.B., Mozzy, K Camp, Kid Ink and more.

“What’s happening at this point in my career defies logic. I still spit the realest and rawest shit of anyone in the rap game right now,” said E-40.

The sets' first single is "On One" where the Slanguage rapper spits an incredibly tight flow and raps the beginning of the verse on two separate tracks and overlaps them. You can listen to E-40's song here.
