Drake’s ‘More Life’ Notches Third Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart
Drake is unstoppable. For the third consecutive week, More Life is sitting comfortably atop the Billboard 200 chart.
According to Nielsen Music, Drizzy moved 136,000 equivalent album units last week compared to his second-week totals of 226,000 copies. Overall, the rap superstar’s sales totals are at 867,000 units. Not quite platinum, but he’s getting there.
Drake’s More Life is the first album to spend three weeks at No. 1 in 2017. Last year, his Grammy-nominated project Views spent the first nine weeks at No. 1.
More Life is still a streaming powerhouse as 111,000 of the total units are SEA (equaling 167 million streams of songs from the album). In addition, 16,000 copies were from traditional album sales.
Overall, Drake is still the reigning king on the Billboard 200. It will be interesting to see what happens next week. Joey Bada$$ just released his album, All-Amerikkkan Bada$$, and it's been garnering rave reviews from fans and critics alike.
Meanwhile, despite being in jail, Kodak Black made an impressive debut on the Billboard 200 tally. His collection, Painting Pictures, finished at No. 3 with 71,000 units, mostly from streaming at 51,000 SEA units. Of that total, 15,000 came from traditional album sales. The set’s streams are buoyed by the LP's single “Tunnel Vision,” which is at No. 2 on the Billboard Streaming Songs chart.
Congrats to Drake and Kodak Black.
