Donald Glover Developing New Animated ‘Deadpool’ Series
A hit TV show in Atlanta, a newly minted platinum single with "Redbone" and now Donald Glover is heading to the world of animation.
According to reports, the 33-year-old renaissance man, along with his brother Stephen, will be releasing an animated Deadpool series on FXX, the FX channel's sister station. Both of the brothers will be wearing at least two hats on the show, as the writers and executive producers of the series. Other people on the team include Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb who are both with Marvel.
"Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who'll bring the untitled Marvel's Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta," said FX's President of Original Programming Nick Grad. "With the success of Legion, we're looking forward to again, partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original."
Loeb also weighed in on the new series, as well as Donald and his brother coming aboard.
"How much more fun could this be?" he asked. "Deadpool, Donald and FX, the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth. We're thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation."
So far Glover and his team has been given a 10 episode deal for the series. The series will air in 2018.
