Last year, Donald Glover revealed that he’s is retiring his Childish Gambino rap alter ego. Well, it looks like he changed his mind. The rapper-actor has inked a new deal with RCA Records.

According to a statement from RCA CEO Peter Edge (via Variety), the deal will usher in the “next phase” of Gambino's musical career. “Donald is undoubtedly one of the most talented, multi-faceted, young entertainers of this era," he stated.

"It was a necessary change of pace," added Glover about the partnership.

Glover as Childish Gambino is the flagship artist of his label Wolf + Rothstein, along with Wolf Taylor and Fam Rothstein. The trio are part of a band that helped create their stellar album Awaken My Love!, which has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. The LP's standout track "Redbone" is up for Record of the Year and Best R&B Song.

While Variety is reporting that new Gambino music is coming this year, a rep for the rapper told Complex that any new material will most likely drop in 2019 at the earliest.

Next up for Glover is his hit television show Atlanta. The program's second season, renamed Atlanta Robbin Season, will air on FX on March 1 at 10 p.m. ET.
