Sometime ago, DJ Premier announced that he put together a five-piece band called The Badder Band, and the group just announced an 18-city tour.

They recently completed their first full-length tour in Japan, and now they're ready to bring their unique brand of live hip-hop to the American and Canadian masses.

The Badder Band will begin their tour on May 31 in Victoria, B.C., and from there they'll hit up cities like Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles. They'll also play a string of dates in the Midwest starting June 16, appearing in St. Louis, then Chicago, then Detroit.

In a press statement, Preem said that forming a band allows him to delve into various musical styles, and it gives him the opportunity to really explore.

"My addiction is turntables, drum machines, guitars, amps and a lot of speakers," he explained. "I have fun doing a whole bunch of different styles with the band, because they fall into place so well with everything that we've brought into the picture, no matter what it is."

The other members of the band besides Preemo are Brady Watt on bass, Lenny "The Ox" Reece on drums, Takuya Kurdoda on the horns and keys and Mark Williams on the trombone and keys.
